WhatsApp is close to a default in India and much of South Asia. It isn't in the US, where SMS and email still do most of the work, or reliably so in the UK either. Building your entire customer-communication strategy around one channel assumes everyone reads it the same way — they don't.
The right question isn't which channel is best in the abstract — it's which one your specific customers already check. A reminder sent on the wrong channel might as well not have been sent at all.
This matters more as businesses go remote and international. A cafe in Bengaluru and a clinic in Austin need the same underlying automation logic, but a genuinely different default channel to deliver it on.
We build around whichever channel — or mix of channels — actually fits where your customers are, not a single global default. WhatsApp, SMS, email and Telegram are all supported for exactly this reason.
